一个寂寞的人看了一则关于电话的广告，“有了电话，朋友就来！”
于是，他装了一部电话，希望朋友跟着来。
白天他卖力地工作，回家之后就整晚眼睁睁地盯着电话机，心想自己可别错过了电话。
他仍然寂寞，开始为可能漏接的电话而烦躁！一天，他从信箱里抓出录音电话的广告，“有了录音电话，朋友电话不漏接！”
录音电话装了一个星期后，还是没有接到电话，于是他退货了。没有了录音电话，房间里更显寂寞。
没有朋友的人最寂寞，但不是有了电话就有了朋友。同样，也不是有了金钱就有朋友。存有一颗真诚、主动而又热忱的心，这才最重要。当你主动地付出关怀和热情，主动地帮助别人时，周围的人便会因为你的付出而加倍感激你，同时你也会拥有更多交心的朋友。
一个孤独的人
这个人出生在一个鲜为人知的小村落，父母都是犹太人，母亲是个农家女。他在另外一个小村庄里长大，在一个木匠的店里工作。30岁后开始旅行布道三年之久。
他没有写过一本书，没有担任过什么职务，也没有一所属于自己的房屋，没有自己的小家。他从来没有进过大学，也不曾涉足大城市。足迹所到之处，离他出生地最远不超过200英里。一切与伟大的人物，与了不起的事物有密切关系的东西，他都没有；他连一张证书也没有，有的只是他自己。
这世界没有给他丝毫东西，除了他的身体。在非常年轻的时候，大家就看不起他，反对他。他的朋友抛弃他，其中还有一个人出卖了他。他被移交到敌人手中，受审判，被人戏笑、嘲弄。
他被钉在一个木制的十字架上，钉在两个强盗当中。他在世上拥有的惟一的一件外衣，被行刑士兵拈阄来分。他死后被人从十字架上取下来，埋葬在一个借来的坟墓里。这个坟墓是他的一个朋友让出来的。
一千九百多年后的今天，他已成为人类的中心，世界进步的动力。我敢说，把全世界的所有陆军、海军，所有国家议会的议员，所有统治过人类的帝王，都加起来，对地球上人类生活的影响力，远远不及这个孤独的人。
可以说，孤独是我们成长道路上不可或缺的一段路程。当今世俗的喧嚣、浮华掏空了我们的心灵，让今天的我们难以承受，进而拒绝孤独。让我们欣然接受孤独，经受它的千锤百炼，最终成为一个对社会，对人类有用的人才。
